Building Your Digital Toolkit

How can you help your clients fulfill their events from a digital perspective? One way to stand out as a planner in the age of socially distanced gatherings is to build your digital toolkit. This goes beyond just linking up with your favorite AV vendor when a client reaches out… You need to have a full digital package ready to go.

Here are a few things we recommend having in your digital service offering.

  1. Livestream. Team up with your AV vendor and figure out how to livestream an event. Space is limited, but people still want their friends and family to join them on their wedding day. Having a preset livestream package is a must in today’s climate. Don’t think about doing a Zoom event - it’s not built for doing a client’s wedding. YouTube Live is the most appropriate medium for live-streaming events.
  2. Custom Snapchat Filter. This will not only give your attendees something fun to do, it’ll encourage picture taking and leave your client with some exciting footage! All the details on creating a snapchat filter can be found here: https://support.snapchat.com/en-US/a/create-odg-snapchat
  3. Virtual Invitations! It’s no secret event invites have largely been moving to email, but keep the excitement up by having the same care for digital invites. Maybe consider a custom illustration or animation to send to your invite list. You can find digital artists and animation experts to create videos for events on https://www.fiverr.com/
  4. Thank You Cards! You can send these out digitally or via mail if you feel like they deserve it!
  5. A Master of Ceremonies. This might seem awkward to have an MC for an event with few or no people, but the guests tuning in via livestream will greatly appreciate it.

Building your digital toolkit starts with the above suggestions. It’s easy for a client to say “I want to livestream my wedding,” but if they want a slam dunk performance, it’s definitely worth their while to hire a planner that has a tailored service offering for todays busy digital landscape.
